Consulting
Process consulting is discovering what is going on in an organization, work unit, team, group, in a meeting or between individuals. Taylor-Nelson has been process consulting for the past fifteen years. They were trained at the Pepperdine Graduate School of Business: Masters of Science in Organization Development. They have studied under such luminaries as Edgar Schein, Bill Dyer, Peter Block, Barbara Bunker, Ruben Harris, Wil Shutze, Warner Burke, Dick Beckhard, Bob Tannenbaum, Kathy Danmiller, & Michael Doyle.
Martin and Nancy work as a process consulting team, able to engage, question and observe a given process from several perspectives. Since there are both formal and informal things going on in a group process, it is important to tune into what is not being said as well as uncovering the meaning of inflections, use of power, gestures, speaking-response patterns, side-bar conversations both verbal and non verbal, etc. Additionally, a consulting team also enables twice the opportunity for us to connect with diverse participants or team members. It makes it easier for team members to learn new behavioral skills as we model conflict management, difference valuing and interpersonal skills. Since both Martin and Nancy are involved in large system changes they are also integrating information about the organization's values, attitudes and beliefs, its larger environment and the transformation processes within the organization.
